About
Built on one rule: nobody gets listed without a license check.
A directory is only worth anything if someone checked.
Remote Psychotherapists is a directory of licensed therapists in the United States who practice entirely online. Two things make it different from the large directories: nobody with an office is listed, and every license is verified against the state board that issued it before a profile goes live.
Why online only
Every large directory mixes office-based and telehealth practices, because they were built when therapy meant driving somewhere. That leaves both sides worse off. A client who wants therapy from home filters past practices built around a waiting room, hoping the therapist they pick genuinely works remotely rather than offering it as an accommodation. A therapist without an office competes on proximity to an address they do not have.
Remote-only practice is not a lesser version of the real thing. It is how a growing number of good therapists have chosen to work. It deserves a directory that assumes it instead of tolerating it.
Why verification
Anyone can write a bio. Credentials, years of experience, specialties, and approach are all self-reported on every directory you have ever used, and mostly they are accurate, and there is no way for you to tell which ones are not.
The license is the one claim that can be checked against an independent public record. So we check it, we publish the date, and we show you the number so you can check it too.
What we refuse to sell
No paid ranking. No featured placement. No lead packages. No promises about how many clients a listing produces.
A directory that sells placement has to keep its listings happy. A directory that sells verification has to keep its readers right. We would rather be the second thing, and that means turning down revenue that the first thing collects.
Who runs it
This directory was started by Alicia S. Frank, LMHC, a therapist whose own practice, Ask 4 Remote Psychotherapists of Florida, is entirely online. She spent years listed on directories that treated remote work as a filter option, and built this one because the thing she wanted did not exist.
She is also listed here, in Florida. Her license went through the same verification as every other listing and shows the same date stamp, and there is no placement to buy on this site, including by her. Her listing sits in the same order yours would.
We would rather tell you that than have you find it out.
